Get it?! I was going to type out “Whole30 Home Stretch”, but I decided to just combine Whole30 and Home together! Okay, I’ll stop.

Before I started typing anything I wondered what day am I even on?! So I counted and today is Day 26. I can’t believe it! After the halfway mark, everything just becomes so routine and I stopped thinking about what day I was on. Everything is starting to feel very second nature and so easy. I’m starting to become more and more nervous about what will happen if I off-road once I finish this Whole30. But, that is entirely another post for another day. Hopefully the easiness of this 30 day challenge will smoothly transition to a more whole lifestyle. Hence, the name of this blog. Note to self: don’t stop blogging after finishing Whole30.

This work week has flown by. I feel like I have been saying that a lot lately, but it has! I’m sure it is the time of year, so everything has been a little more chaotic while gearing up for Spring. I’m excited tomorrow is Friday! I left for work early this morning for a 7:30 AM meeting. Because of this, I was in the kitchen until 8:30 PM prepping everything for today. I cooked a chicken breast and made a salad for today’s lunch. I took last night’s leftover pork chops and green beans and made an omelet with some bacon for today’s breakfast. I even grinned up some coffee beans and filled the coffee pot with water so everything was ready to go this morning when I woke up. I am really glad that I prepped the coffee pot the night before! It was like magic just pushing the button with no extra work. I think I can even set it up so that it starts brewing the coffee at a certain time. I need to look into that! Anyway, with all of that said, I have not yet prepped anything for tomorrow! However, when I wake up tomorrow morning it will be Friday, so I don’t really care.

Our little lunchtime workout group stepped it up this week. We started the second phase of Focus T25: the Beta workouts. So far, I’m liking them more than the Alpha phase, but it’s most likely because it feels novel. Still, I love mixing it up. Today I was feeling a bit overworked because my body felt so sore. I was able to leave work a bit earlier today because of our morning meeting, so I decided to attend a 4:30 class at my gym called “Yoga Ball.” I had no idea what to expect, but it was just what I needed for my muscles. It was basically an hour of stretching with a stability ball but it felt great, especially for my legs.

The weather has been so beautiful lately. Hubs had the day off so I assigned him to cleaning the grill outside.We haven’t used it in months and it was in desperate need of a scrub. Tonight’s dinner was so good and so easy. I salted and peppered some pork steaks and threw them on the grill. That was it! I paired it with some oven-roasted asparagus. All I did was add some lemon juice with salt and pepper to the asparagus. After roasting it, I drizzled some Tessemae’s Lemonette over it and then I squirted some mustard on mine (I love mustard!!). It was so effing good. I forgot how easy grilling is. I hope this weather keeps up!

Now I just need to figure out how to get my husband to remake the bed after he naps in it…

2 Weeks!

I’m typing this as dinner is cooking in the oven. I finally got to try out a new recipe for spaghetti squash. I love spaghetti squash! I usually just eat it with tomato and meat sauce (which is still delicious in its own right), but I have been wanting to branch out. I found this Pizza Spaghetti Pie recipe from paleOMG. I added some jalapenos to it for some kick and will most likely whip some guacamole and olives on top. Hubs has a very sensitive (boring) pallet and can’t really handle any spice or kick, so we will see how he handles it. I told him I was making a surprise for dinner–I didn’t mention any word of “pizza” to him because he would be awfully disappointed if anything but a grease-shining cheese-engulfed beautifully crusted pizza didn’t come out of our oven once the timer hits “ding.” I will recap on the recipe (and reactions from all around) tomorrow.

I went to bed right around 9 pm last night. I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I slept a lot, but my sleep wasn’t the best. It was still pretty good, but I am going to blame it on the following facts:

  •  I had to pee in the middle of the night but didn’t want to get up!
  • Lady was ready to eat breakfast at 3:30 in the flipping morning and there was no way in Hell I was getting up to feed her if I wasn’t even going to get up to pee.
  • I became hungry around 4ish in the morning.

Thankfully, Hubs fed Lady sometime later on and I somehow was able to fall back to sleep without filling my stomach or emptying my bladder. I woke up around 7 AM and made some coffee. The coffee usually tides me over but I wanted to make breakfast right away since I was still hungry. It Starts With Food gives great information on how our hormones work properly when we eat the right foods and waking up hungry is a really good sign of your cortisol and leptin levels being in balance (I wanted to high five my hormones!) so I was happy to feed my tummy. I love eating breakfast on the weekends because I can take my time making the meal.

I pureed some butternut squash and sauteed kale, chicken, and onions in coconut oil. I put it together and fried 2 eggs to top it off!

A little after breakfast I headed to the gym for another strength training class. It killed my arms and shoulders! I felt stronger than last week though. It was so cold and rainy outside that I decided to stay for the yoga class which was right after. I’ve never attended yoga at my gym before; I’ve only attended yoga classes at yoga studios. I didn’t know what to expect. It was a very gentle yoga (to say it gently!). Really though, it was kind of perfect because my muscles were so dead from the class before so it was the best opportunity to stretch things out and take shelter from the cold rain.

I was happy to return home to my Cajun-spiced sweet potato wedges! I had three ones left.

I cooked some summer squash, onions, prosciutto and diced turkey burger together in coconut oil and threw it with the wedges. It has lasted me all day without any hunger pains or cravings.

Today marks 2 weeks down and tomorrow will be Day 15. Half way! I am hoping to try out another run tomorrow. The weather won’t be that great but I don’t think it will be raining or as cold as it is outside now. I really just want to get another run in that will be better than the last one I did a week ago. If I knew the weather was going to be like this I would have made soup! I love soup on a frigid and dreary day. Hopefully no one in this household will have any regrets from dinner! And when I say no one, I mean my husband.
